Do you respond well to commands? I don’t. Even when I was in grade school, I always thought that the teacher should explain to me WHY I ought to do what she wanted me to do.
And I’ve always prided myself on that fact. That is, I thought it showed healthy independence – strong character – firm principles. And in part that’s true. I don’t want my kids to be “sheeple” and just follow whatever they’re told.
