Ted Hopkins

Senior Pastor

Pastor Ted has served St. Paul Lutheran Church and School as senior pastor since 2024. Along with preaching, teaching, and spiritual care, Ted gets to lead an amazing ministry team in the church and the school so that we all shine God’s love in Jesus to the Ann Arbor community.

Before he came to St. Paul, Pastor Ted previously served as a professor of theology and in administration at Concordia University, Ann Arbor, for nine years. He taught classes in the Christian faith and the Bible (systematic theology), led church worker formation as director of pre-seminary and family life ministry programs, and was an academic administrator for the campus.

Aaron Roggow

Discipleship Pastor

Pastor Roggow has served at St. Paul as Associate/Teaching/Discipleship Pastor since November 2015. In this role, he gets to teach all ages of St. Paul members: students in Lutheran Catechesis, new members learning about the congregation, retirees who love daily Bible reading, and all ages who attend Sunday Discipleship Hour.

He is a native of Hemlock, MI (he’ll be elated if you know where that is), a graduate of Valley Lutheran High School - Saginaw, MI; Concordia University - Ann Arbor, MI; and Concordia Seminary - St. Louis, MO. He holds a Master of Divinity and a Master of Sacred Theology.

Lexie Brown

Director of Family Life Ministry

Lexie has been serving at St. Paul Ann Arbor since August of 2021.

Before starting her role at SPAA, Lexie completed a family ministry internship at a Lutheran church and school in Lansing. She is a 2020 graduate of Concordia University Ann Arbor - Go Cards! Lexie went through the Family Life Program at CUAA and is a certified Director of Family Life Ministry.

Something you may not know about Lexie is that in the summer of 2025, she completed a Route 66 road trip, driving all the way from Michigan to California and back in 2 weeks, hitting each state on Route 66 and taking a few detours to check out some National Parks!

One thing Lexie loves about SPAA is how the ministry here brings together people of all different ages, generations, and stages of life and unites them around shared faith in Jesus.

Tyler Seehafer

Director of Youth, Media, and Overseas Missions

Tyler has been serving at St. Paul Ann Arbor since September 2022. He primarily works with middle school and high school students, helping them grow in community and in their faith today. Tyler also creates fun and engaging media content for St. Paul and works closely with the church’s missionaries in Puerto Rico, helping facilitate opportunities for members to serve alongside them.

Originally from Wisconsin, Tyler has served in ministry in Utica, MI; Wayside, WI; and Ann Arbor, MI, working primarily with youth and missions. He is blessed with his wonderful wife, Shannon, and their three children—Kalayla, Kya, and Tye. Outside of ministry, Tyler loves spending time outdoors and enjoys building furniture as a hobby.

John Boonenberg

Director of Music

John has been leading the music ministry at St. Paul Ann Arbor with joy and creativity, guiding choirs, instrumental ensembles, and congregational song in proclaiming the Gospel through music of every style and era since 2019.

Before coming to St. Paul, John’s musical journey took him from The Juilliard School (MM) and the University of Michigan (BM, DMA) to performances across Europe and the United States as a pianist, conductor, and teacher. He serves on the faculty at Concordia University Ann Arbor, where he is the Kreft Endowed Chair in Music, and he is music director and conductor of The Boychoir of Ann Arbor.

Leslie Ronan

Church Secretary

Leslie is the friendly voice and smiling face that greets you when you contact our church office. Serving the church since May 2022, she keeps everything running smoothly and makes sure very detail is taken care of behind the scenes.

When not in the office, she loves traveling and exploring new places and planning a party. Leslie and her husband have been members of St. Paul since December 2017 and enjoy serving in many different ways together around the church.

One thing she loves about working and attending St. Paul is getting to chat with her brothers and sisters in Christ, hearing their stories and making lasting friendships.

David Theuerkorn

Business Manager

Dave joined the St. Paul staff in August 2025. As the Business Manager he assists the ministry by coordinating financial processes, vendor relations, facilities management and human resources oversight.

Before coming to St. Paul Dave spent 30 years in business as a manager and business owner. He also spent 7 years as part of a church planting team. Dave graduated from Lutheran High North and the University of Michigan. He has been married for 34 years and has 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters.

One thing you might not know about Dave is that he lived in Traverse City for 12 years and believe it or not actually misses all the snow!

Dave loves how friendly and welcoming everyone at St. Paul has been and how the love of Jesus shines through the whole congregation and staff.

Natalie Nesbitt

Director of Communications

Natalie has been “sharing ministry happenings and connecting others to the amazing things God is doing through St. Paul Ann Arbor” since November of 2020.

Before starting her current role at SPAA, Natalie served for 12 years as Parish Administrator (from 2004-2016). Natalie and her husband have been members of St. Paul Ann Arbor for over 20 years and they have two wonderful daughters.

Something you may not know about Natalie is that she lived in Stuttgart, Germany for two years with her family and loves to talk with others who have wanderlust about their travel experiences.

One thing she loves about SPAA is "the way our congregation passionately supports our school and sharing the love of Christ with others through meaningful connections.”
